covid-19 management plan

working at alert level 3

The Government is moving New Zealand from Alert Level 4 to Alert Level 3 from Tuesday 28 April 2020. It is the responsibility of the Site Owner (the party responsible for overall site co-ordination) to ensure a COVID-19 management plan is in place. The Site Owner may be a client (eg in the case of a self-managed renovation); a group home builder; a project manager; or a builder/contractor. There must always be a nominated person onsite when work is occurring who is responsible for administering the COVID-19 management plan.

protocols

Crabb Electrical is implementing Alert Level 3 frame-work, following these protocols:

a. Before Arriving on Site

b. Site Entry

c. Site Operations

d. Leaving Site

before arriving on site

The Site Owner must provide Crabb Electrical via email, with a description of the fault, likely areas of work; and names and contact phone numbers of all those at this site for future contact-tracing if required. Crabb Electrical and Site Owner will book an agreed time on site to ensure the following can be arranged to maintain 2m physical-distancing and only the minimum number of people in the work area.

site entry

The site is to have clear entry/exit points with provision to allow for signage/fencing to prevent members of the public from accessing site. The Site Owner is responsible for ensuring ALL people accessing the site must sign-in/sign-out at each visit – (we encourage Site Owners to consider providing a visible 2m circle at the sign-in area to help people set their personal “bubble” at the start of work each day). This includes companies making deliveries, Council Inspectors and clients. All non-essential visitors to be stopped from visiting the site. Once the Site Owner has reviewed the previously emailed instructions when Crabb Electrical arrives on site, then all persons are to vacate the site/work area (either to eg: a room outside of the workspace, outdoors/garage, their vehicle) to stay out of Crabb Electrical’s workspace and keep the 2m physical-distancing.

site operations

The Site Owner should co-ordinate works to ensure, unless avoidable, that only one trade is operating on a single site at any given time.

How Crabb Electrical will work on site:

  • Eliminate where possible face-to-face meetings.
  • Use of PPE as appropriate.
  • Maintain 2m physical-distancing between Crabb Electrical staff and customer; maintain 1m physical-distancing between Crabb Electrical staff when working, if possible.
  • No sharing of tools. If tools are to be shared they need to be disinfected before passing between people.
  • Staff to bring a drink bottle and lunch to work – no leaving site to pick up lunch during the day. All food/drink waste immediately disposed of in rubbish bins or taken away from site.
  • Use of alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
  • Daily cleaning of high touch areas.

Within Client Homes/Renovation Work:

  • Careful consideration given to when such work restarts based on the specific nature of the work.
  • All practicable steps taken to separate the work site from the occupied area of the home.
  • Action appropriate daily cleaning regime for the nature of the site and areas being occupied.
  • Additional consideration will need to be given to toilets and kitchens which should not be shared between client family members and contractors.

leaving site

The Site Owner is responsible to:

  • Ensure all contractors, visitors and those making deliveries to sign out before they leave the site.
  • Confirm for multi-unit sites, that the information provided at sign-in about which units would be visited remains accurate.
  • Include next destination to assist with contact tracing in the event of a suspected COVID-19 case.

Crabb Electrical:

  • Acknowledges obligation to inform Site Owner if they become unwell or become aware they have had contact with a suspected COVID-19 case; and ensure they have Site Owner contact details.
  • Will sign out, wash hands and use hand sanitiser before leaving the site.
